About Chris Stevens and the Story Behind CountryLine Radio
CountryLine Radio has its roots in Chris Country, a station created in 2013 by British radio programmer, producer and composer Chris Stevens.
Based near Manchester in the United Kingdom, Stevens has built a career around radio programming, production, station imaging and audio branding. He has worked with a wide range of radio formats through companies including Devaweb and Ignite Jingles, and previously spent five years living in Dallas, Texas — an experience that placed him close to the American radio and country music culture that would later influence his own station.
Chris Country began as a passion project dedicated to country music and gradually developed into one of the best-known country radio brands in the United Kingdom. The station expanded beyond online streaming and became available through DAB in several British markets, including London, Manchester and Liverpool, while also reaching listeners through connected devices and digital platforms.
In March 2020, CountryLine Media acquired Chris Country as part of its strategy to build a broader country music media platform for audiences in the UK and internationally. Following the acquisition, Chris Stevens joined the CountryLine team as Head of Global Audio, continuing to oversee the station’s programming and development.
The Chris Country identity would later evolve into the CountryLine Radio brand heard today, carrying forward the station’s original mission of connecting UK audiences with Nashville, contemporary country music and the wider international country scene.
